Beside Schloss Dhaun in Hochstetten-Dhaun, Germany, the Volkssternwarte Dhaun observatory has offered local skywatchers a purpose-built home since the 1990s.
About Volkssternwarte Dhaun
The observatory occupies a three-storey building with a dome roughly 3.2 metres across, along with an observation flat roof, a lecture room and other facilities, and houses a 50cm Newtonian telescope on a fork mount.
History
The Zweckverband Schloss Dhaun originally built the observatory in 1969, and it was rebuilt in 1991 into its current form. It was historically run by the Astronomical Working Group of Starfriends Mainz and Surroundings.

The observatory sits near Kirn, in the Bad Kreuznach district of Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany, between Bad Kreuznach and Idar-Oberstein.
