About Sternwarte Limburg

Sternwarte Limburg is operated by the non-profit association Sternwarte Limburg e.V., founded in 2004. Rather than building from scratch, the group converted a former animal shelter on Stephanshügel street into an astronomy site, combining a lecture room for around 30 visitors with an observatory that has both a retractable roof and a dome, plus an open observation platform.

History

The association has grown its site in stages since 2004: the core lecture room and dome-and-roof observatory came first, followed by a dedicated solar observatory dome added in spring 2017 to allow safe daytime observing of the sun.
