About Temisas Astronomical Observatory
Sitting at an elevation of 850 metres (2,790 ft) in the Canary Islands, the observatory takes advantage of the island's clear, high-altitude skies. It is operated by the Fundación Canaria Observatorio de Temisas, a foundation dedicated to astronomical outreach on Gran Canaria.
History
The observatory opened in 2008, adding a dedicated astronomical facility to a part of Gran Canaria already known among stargazers for its dark, high-elevation conditions.

Temisas sits in the south-east of Gran Canaria, in the Agüimes municipality, up on Montaña de Arriba above the village itself — a drive up from the coast into quieter, higher terrain.
