About the Observatory
The observatory is part of FCUP, one of Portugal's oldest and largest science faculties, established in 1911. FCUP spans departments including astronomy, physics, computer science and geography, and its Campo Alegre Campus (Pole 3) in Porto, where the observatory is located, also hosts the Marine Zoology Station, the Geophysical Institute, the Botanical Gardens and the Museum of Natural History.
