About Langkawi National Observatory
Langkawi National Observatory is a space observatory built to bring astronomy to the public and to support Malaysia's space research programme. It was originally managed by the Malaysian National Space Agency, ANGKASA, a role now carried on by the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA).
History
The observatory was founded in 2006, giving Malaysia a dedicated site for space observation and public outreach on Langkawi Island.

Langkawi is an island archipelago in Kedah state, in northern Peninsular Malaysia, and the observatory sits within reach of the island's other tourist attractions. Its tropical, low-latitude position gives clear views deep into the southern sky alongside familiar northern constellations.
