Kiel Observatory occupies a rooftop perch on a high-rise building at Fachhochschule Kiel, the Kiel University of Applied Sciences, in northern Germany, sitting around 10 metres above sea level.
About Kiel Observatory
Built in 1988 atop the university building that houses its Business and Social Work faculties, the observatory is operated by Fachhochschule Kiel and forms part of the “Cultural Isle of Dietrichsdorf” initiative, which brings cultural and educational offerings to that part of the city.

The observatory is in Kiel, on Germany's Baltic coast, integrated into the university campus in the Dietrichsdorf district.
Visiting Kiel Observatory
The observatory opens to the public on Friday and Saturday evenings: from 20:30 to 23:00 between April and October, and from 19:00 to 22:00 between November and March. Please note the site is not wheelchair accessible.
