About Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium
Housed within Liberty Science Center, the planetarium takes its name from benefactor Jennifer Chalsty, who contributed $5 million toward its creation. It seats 400 people beneath a 100-foot (30-metre) dome with an 89-foot (27-metre) projection screen, making it larger than New York City's Hayden Planetarium.
History
The Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium opened in December 2017. At the time, it was the largest planetarium in the United States and the Western Hemisphere, and remains the world's fourth largest, behind only two planetariums in Japan and one in China.
