Above the fourth floor of Herty Hall on the campus of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, the Pohl Observatory gives students and the public a modern window on the night sky.

About Georgia College Observatory

Officially known as the Pohl Observatory, it is located in Herty Hall, room 405, on the Georgia College & State University campus. It is equipped with a 24-inch Corrected Dall-Kirkham astrograph, built by Planewave Instruments with an f/6.8 focal ratio, one of the more capable research-grade telescopes available at a US public university.

Telescopes & research

The observatory's 24-inch CDK astrograph is used both for public observing events and for research, including asteroid detection work led by the observatory's supervisor, Dr. Donovan Domingue.
