About Ellinogermaniki Agogi observatory

Installed in 2007 at an altitude of 154 metres, the observatory is registered with the Minor Planet Center under the code C68. Its main instrument is a 16-inch f/10 Meade LX200R Schmidt-Cassegrain robotic telescope, housed alongside two solar telescopes and several smaller instruments inside a dome 12 metres high and 6.3 metres wide.

Education & research

The observatory is built around education rather than professional research: it supports national and EC-funded astronomy education projects and works with the Institute of Astrophysics, giving school students and teachers direct access to a working robotic telescope.
