Eden Astronomical Observatory

Eden Astronomical Observatory is a privately owned observatory in Lahore, Pakistan, run from a rooftop installation that has been in operation since 2004.

About Eden Astronomical Observatory

Operated by an amateur astronomer, the observatory carries the Minor Planet Center observatory code N31 and is set up for astrometry, photometry and spectroscopy. It runs a Celestron C14 telescope on a Losmandy Titan Mount, paired with an SBIG ST9XE CCD camera and an SBIG AO8 adaptive optics unit, along with multiband imaging and spectroscopy equipment. The setup is fully automated and can be operated remotely over the internet.

History

The rooftop observatory has been active since 2004, and it holds the distinction of making Pakistan's first detection of a Near-Earth Object.
