South of Yuba City, California, in the shadow of the Sutter Buttes, the Yuba City Astronomical Observatory has spent more than a decade tracking asteroids, planets and deep-sky objects from a single dedicated dome.
About Yuba City Astronomical Observatory
The observatory is owned by the Doscher Family Trust and operated primarily by trustee Richard J. Doscher. It sits just south of Yuba City, adjacent to the Sutter Buttes mountain range, and was established on September 22, 2010.
Telescopes & research
A single nine-foot dome on a permanent pier houses an 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, the observatory's main instrument. Work carried out there spans planetary and deep-sky observing, near-Earth object studies, astrometry, photometry and astrophotography, with an IAU/MPC observatory assignment number pending at the time of the available records.
