Sternwarte Neuenhaus

Sternwarte Neuenhaus, in the Grafschaft Bentheim district of Lower Saxony, Germany, has grown from a small amateur group founded in 1990 into a site with its own planetarium and dome.

About Sternwarte Neuenhaus

The observatory is run by the Astronomischer Verein der Grafschaft Bentheim e.V. (AVGB), an amateur astronomy association founded in 1990. It moved to its present site in Neuenhaus in 2000, with support from the local Samtgemeinde, and today includes a lecture room seating around 60 people.

History

Since relocating in 2000, the site has expanded twice over: a planetarium was added in 2005 and then enlarged and modernised in 2016, and a 3.5-metre diameter observation dome opened in 2008, giving the association a proper home for its telescope alongside the planetarium shows.
