About Silesian Planetarium

Formally the Silesian Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory (Planetarium Śląskie i Obserwatorium Astronomiczne), the site combines a public planetarium with observatory facilities, part of the wider Metropolis GZM area spanning Katowice and Chorzów.

History

It was founded on 4 December 1955 to commemorate Nicolaus Copernicus, and has held the title of Poland's largest and oldest planetarium ever since.
