Parc Astronòmic del Montsec is an astronomy park in Àger, in the Noguera district of Catalonia, Spain, built around some of the darkest skies in the region.
About Parc Astronòmic del Montsec
The park was the third Starlight Reserve certified in the world and the second in Europe, recognising the exceptional quality of its night sky and the strength of its light-pollution protections. It has three buildings equipped with astronomical domes for portable telescopes, giving it a genuinely broad set of observing facilities for a single site.
Telescopes & research
The park's Observatory-Classroom houses the "Assumpció Català" telescope, a 50 cm Dall-Kirkham catadioptric instrument, while the Gran Cúpula holds a 40 cm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. It also runs Ojo del Montsec, a digital planetarium with a full-dome 3D projection system, and combines research, education and public outreach in astronomy.
