Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

The Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine sits in the Holosiiv forest, about 12 kilometers from the center of Kyiv. Founded on 17 July 1944, it's one of Ukraine's leading centers for astronomical research.

Operated by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the observatory is based at 27 Akademika Zabolotnoho Street in Kyiv's Holosiiv forest. Its research staff includes a full member and two associate members of the Academy, along with 17 doctors of philosophy and 54 candidates of science.

History

The observatory was founded on 17 July 1944.

Researchers here work on Earth rotation, celestial coordinate systems, solar physics, and the formation and evolution of celestial bodies.
