About Kulin Observatory
The observatory was established between 1950 and 1954 by György Kulin, a prominent astronomer who had worked at Konkoly Observatory from 1930 to 1940. Its original telescope featured a 30-centimetre mirror that Kulin hand-crafted himself after training in optical glass work.
History
In 2001, the observatory underwent a complete restoration, adding computerised systems and a second, 15-centimetre refractor telescope alongside the original instrument. The site includes a four-metre metal dome with an attached photographic laboratory and storage areas.
