Josef Bresser Observatory

The Josef Bresser Observatory stands just northwest of Borken in Germany, run by the amateur astronomy club Sternfreunde Borken e.V. for the benefit of the local community.

About Josef Bresser Observatory

The observatory is owned and operated by Sternfreunde Borken e.V., a club of amateur astronomers based in the town. Its main instrument is a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, used for public viewing nights and club observation sessions. It now welcomes more than 1,000 visitors a year.

History

Planning began in December 2002 with support from Meade Europe and the city of Borken, and the observatory was inaugurated in May 2003.

The observatory sits just northwest of Borken, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, an easy trip from the town centre.
