Genoa observatory

About Genoa Observatory

The observatory is run by the Astrofili section, founded in 1961, together with the Università Popolare Sestrese, a non-profit educational association founded in 1907. It houses an astronomical telescope and a planetarium, and the whole operation is staffed by volunteers rather than professional astronomers.

History

The facility was built in the early 1980s to give amateur astronomers and the public in Genoa a dedicated place to observe the sky, growing out of the long-running Astrofili group and the Università Popolare Sestrese's educational mission.
