About Flamborough Bird Observatory

Formed in 2002 as a volunteer organization, the observatory is one of only twenty bird observatories at key migration hotspots across Britain and Ireland. It sits on the North Sea coast between Filey and Bridlington Bays, an area home to the largest mainland seabird colony in Britain and a reputation for the best seawatching on the British east coast.

History

Since its founding in 2002, the observatory has been run by a dedicated team of volunteers who monitor bird occurrence and migration patterns, record populations, and create and maintain wildlife habitats along the headland.
