Osservatorio astronomico di Cima Rest is a public astronomical observatory on the Cima Rest plateau in Magasa, part of the Valvestino area of Lombardy, Italy.
About Osservatorio astronomico di Cima Rest
Established in 1997 and managed by the Associazione Astrofili di Salò, the observatory sits at around 1,200 metres and combines public outreach with amateur research, including a notable asteroid discovery credited to the site.
Telescopes & research
The observatory operates a 37.5cm Newtonian telescope for public use and a separate 50.8cm Newtonian telescope dedicated to research. Work carried out here led to the discovery of the minor asteroid 221769 Cima Rest.

Perched at roughly 1,200 metres on the Cima Rest plateau above Lake Garda, the site enjoys dark, open skies typical of this stretch of the Lombardy Alps.
Visiting Osservatorio astronomico di Cima Rest
From May to October, the observatory hosts public observing evenings known as "Serate a Lume di Stella" on Saturday nights. Check the official website for the current season's schedule before visiting.
