About Ondake Observatory
The observatory sits close to the top of Mt. Onidake and houses a 60-centimetre Newtonian telescope, one of the largest instruments of its kind in Kyushu, inside a state-of-the-art computer-controlled dome.

Beyond the main 60cm Newtonian telescope, the site offers a 360-degree panoramic viewpoint over the surrounding islands and ocean. It was built to share the wonders of the night sky with visitors to the Goto Islands, and regularly runs stargazing sessions focused on the Milky Way and meteor showers.
