About Montjoia observatory
The site is connected to the Agrupació Astronómica de Sabadell, an amateur astronomy association founded in 1960. The associated Sabadell observatory opened in 1993, equipped with a 50cm reflector telescope alongside two smaller refractor telescopes.
History
On 23 August 1998, Catalan amateur astronomers Ferran Casarramona and Antoni Vidal discovered the asteroid 13260 Sabadell from this site, a notable amateur contribution to asteroid research.
