About Filey Bird Observatory

The observatory grew out of the Filey Brigg Ornithological Group (FBOG), formed in late 1976, and became an officially accredited bird observatory in January 1999. It operates on a voluntary basis, supported by its members.

History

Since its founding as FBOG in 1976, the group has built up its accreditation and its recording area, which now includes Filey Dams, the East Lea nature reserves, an area of reclaimed land known as The Tip, Parish Wood, and a dedicated seawatch hide on the Brigg itself.
