Eurac observatory

Despite the name, the "Eurac observatory" listing refers not to a telescope but to a cluster of research programmes run by Eurac Research in Bolzano, in Italy's South Tyrol region.

About Eurac Observatory

Eurac Research is a private research centre established in 1992. It operates several initiatives that use the word "observatory" in the sense of ongoing monitoring rather than astronomy: the Monitoring Centre on Autonomies, which studies phenomena linked to Europe's autonomous provinces; the Sentinel Alpine Observatory (SAO), which uses Copernicus Sentinel satellite data to monitor the Alpine environment; and a Sustainable Tourism Observatory, one of only seven INSTO observatories recognised in Europe.

Eurac Research is based in Bolzano, in the Trentino-South Tyrol region of northern Italy, in the heart of the Alps.
