About this observatory

At the Atlas Golf Marrakech resort in Morocco, the AGM Observatory is a cultural-centre facility that opens the Moroccan night sky to visitors, schools and groups.

About AGM Observatory

The observatory is part of Atlas Golf Marrakech's cultural centre and is home to what is described as the largest telescope in Morocco: a 600 mm (T600) instrument built by Valmeca with a 3,100 mm focal length, housed under a purpose-built dome and operated remotely with digital cameras. Alongside it sit smaller instruments, including a 350 mm Celestron C14, a 355 mm Dobsonian telescope, and dedicated solar-viewing equipment such as a Coronado refractor.

Telescopes & research

Beyond its flagship 600 mm telescope, AGM's mix of instruments lets visitors observe everything from deep-sky objects to the Sun in safety. The observatory works with local amateur astronomers from the 3AM association (Association d'Astronomie Amateur de Marrakech) to run its observation sessions.

Location & getting there

AGM Observatory sits within the Atlas Golf Marrakech resort on the outskirts of Marrakech, against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, in Morocco's semi-arid, generally clear climate.
